Hi all,
I have a Cal 39-2 with the vinyl liner to the inner coachroof sides and deck under in some places, also behind the settees.
I need to replace my opening ports and a fair bit of the vinyl is getting destroyed removing those.
Has anyone replaced their liner with something else, or the same sort of finish?
What did you use?

Hi James,
I have a 1978 34-3. I removed the headliner because of mold, and also carpet hull liner that was behind the settees. I replaced the hull liner with nice new white hull liner that I got from Sailrite. It was not very difficult to do and looks nice. I have not replaced the headliner yet.. I decided to paint it for now and it looks fine. In the photos, I hadn't finished re-installing the trim.

The hull liner is this: https://www.sailrite.com/HullBlanket-He ... r-Grey-M66
It is a thin carpet-like fabric with no backing. You wouldn't need foam behind it. I like that it minimizes lumps and bumps in the fiberglass. I used 3M Super 77 adhesive. I cut out the piece of liner and dry fit it, then sprayed both the back of it and the hull. You can then stick it to the hull and cut off the excess. I highly recommend a good cartridge respirator mask and a big fan pointing out of the cabin when spraying the adhesive. I laid a big square fan on top of my v-berth hatch and it exhausted the spray out.
Sailrite has more hull liner products.. one is a vinyl with foam backing. You'd have to use trim to hide the seams. The carpet can be used without trim over the seams if you install it carefully.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
