I'm nearly done (I hope !!). Mast goes back in end of week and then some G10 work. I'll write it all up when all is finished and I'm back to home port. I learned a huge amount.

Hey Mary. I spoke with Cameron and he's going to email you a wait list application. He said he might be able to work something out as far as the length. I know they're pretty hard line on that. You probably would have to physically run a tape measure and show it to him. I know we had to take our pulpit off for over a year just to meet the requirements. As far as dry storage I only got one more callback. Cabrillo Way dry boat storage would have to put you on a waiting list because of the size of your boat. They take a max length of 40 ft. The boat would have to be either on a trailer or on a cradle that you provide. The absolute max length of trailer or cradle would be 40 ft.

Just got off the phone with Long Beach boatyard. They were very helpful and are going to call back with some more info. They're dry storage would be $200 a day if they weren't working on it, they will talk to their mechanic Caesar and see if he was willing to tackle the transmission for you. They also recommended Harpers again. If you were determined to stick with dry storage they suggested going inland. They said you might call Moger yacht transport and talk to Junior, they might know of a dry storage locally. 3105156859.

Mary: sounds like you may be leaning towards trucking, but I talked to the folks at Spaulding and South Beach Riggers. James said Spaulding doesn't specialize in or like to handle engine and transmission work but List will and they have their own space. James also said they might be able to help get the transmission off the engine, but thats hard to say without seeing it. You could haul your mast out at Spaulding and have South Beach Riggers next door work on your rig and if you need a tow boat, List on the other side of Spaulding has one and you could then move over there. Did you talk to List? James has an outboard on his Cal 28 and Chris has a Cal 39 but not a Paragon, so that doesn't help.

Wow, you guys are awesome! I will look into all these great suggestions when I’m home from this work trip.

A mechanic I know who had been out of town is looking at the transmission today.

I also heard about another dry storage option that I need to call about. I got Cameron’s email.

Thank you!!

The mechanic brought some big aluminum wedges and a pry bar and got the transmission out! I like to think I loosened it up for him
Now hoping that a rebuild will be possible/successful.
I really appreciate all the ideas. I’ll definitely be using your suggestions.

Mary: Yay !!! Was really rooting for you on that one. Having had a few nightmares like this myself, I know what it feels like when you are past the worst of it. A good feeling!

Such a good feeling! I ordered the parts today, and the mechanic is going to rebuild it. He said it looks like it will be fine. Really relieved.
