This is for my other boat, a 26' Seafarer from 1961. For years , since about 1970, we've had a VDO Sumlog in place, a mechanical speed/distance log device. It's old, the impeller is damaged, and it way under-reads.

I'd like to buy a mechanical or an electronic speed/distance device to replace it, but nobody makes such devices any more. It's all GPS based, which is overkill for this day sailer. A NIB Sumlog would be great, or I could go electronic.

So is there an online vendor of used marine equipment that's trustworthy and that might carry such devices?

Thanks,
Chris Campbell

google it, you might be surprised at what you find in used. I found an old garmin 440s with a depth finder. this setup gives me depth, speed and location in real time. Other great features as well and cheep! I have it on my Potter 15. I was also able to convert a transom mounted depth finder into a shoot through.
