Re: Prop electrolysis and pesky sea lions
The prop is much more responsive, more power at lower RPM. There appears to be even more prop walk to port if that's possible. We have only tried it in flat conditions in the harbor so I will post an update after we try it in a raging gale at full speed. Any news on moving your boat down, Mary?

Prop electrolysis and pesky sea lions
20240410_181.JPG When we bought our boat 11 years ago I noticed a problem with the prop. One blade looked like a tattered mouse ear. We don't power all that much. So since there was no major shaft vibration the repair was low on my list. After our rigging failure we had an opportunity to power the ...

Re: Thoughts and suggestions
We use a electric flush portable. It has a 5 1/2 gallon tank which is adequate for us since we have dump stations in the areas we sail and moor. If I was to consider doing it correctly, I would follow Mary's example. She detailed her installation very thoroughly on this site.

Re: Thoughts and suggestions
I am also in the preparation phase of replacing the standing rigging of my 2 29. At least here in Southern California I've had minimal success with everybody and everything except West Marine, unfortunately. In the past with smaller boats we have dropped the mast and took the rigging to someone who ...

Re: Help! Bilge Blower Died
Yes. I use an inline blower. It works fine. As far as leaving the previous bilge blower in place, you would be decreasing the effectiveness of your new blower substantially because the blades of the old blower are either going to be turned or partially blocking the tubing to the clamshell. Is there ...

Re: Help! Bilge Blower Died
Replacing it is the way to go. Bilge blowers only have a limited lifespan so I'm sure previous owners have replaced yours overtime. Since that is something that does get replaced there is no guarantee that it would be in the same place as the original. You probably have two clamshells on the stern. ...

Re: Cal Sightings
The Honolulu boat is a Cal 29 or 2 29. The same doghouse is on the Cal 2 30 but it has a reverse transom. Setting out for a beautiful sail we sighted this Cal 34, Cowichan Bay, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. vi cal.JPG Down by the harbor we found another Cal 34, Cowichan Bay, Vancouver Island, ...
