weather helm (james)

Hi James, reef early and keep the boat flat. When racing we are usually the first boat to reef and sometimes the only one. The main trimmer has to pay close attention to the skipper about his weather helm and play the traveller accordingly. Sometimes we would race with our 155 genoa and a single or even double reef in the main, since its easier to shake out a reef than change a headsail.This season we finished 8th out of 22 boats in our wednesday night beer can races in spinnaker class. We are the oldest boat in the fleet with the highest phrf rating and often beat faster boats boat for boat.
