9.2 keel bolts, the good the bad the ugly

I just got the roll of film developed, finished my poor HTML and posted the keel bolt project to the 9.2 site. I also have a pic of the Martec 14Dx12P prop for reference. I was most fortunate to had found a fresh water boat, no corrosion to the bolts. Happiness is a dry bilge. http://www.angelfire.com/tn/santana525/cal92/keelbolts.html

Eric, Nice set of pics - and the new holding tank looks pretty nice also. I now see how you managed a 14" folding prop - the prop actually extends another 3" or so aft of the where the fixed prop is. Gives me something to think about. Also - you have a Yanmar 2GM20 installed, not the Universal 5411. I have a lead on a Yan 2GM for a good price, but was concerned over the effort of rebuilding the engine stringers base up and out to accomodate the different location of the motor mounts. Do you have any pics and/or dimensions of what was done to accomodate your engine swap? Thanks - TomT 1982 Cal 9.2 "Lenochka", Hull #53 San Mateo, CA --------------------------------- Yahoo! Just aquired a HP 5.1m camera. I'll have to go down a play with it to try to snag some photos. The fromt mounts appear to be the Yanmar mounts but dont know who makes the ones on the back. The Yanmars are refered to as Yamer Bangers, they are noisy. Mine is #701 must be one of the original ones. I have some pictures of the old engine mounts that were molded into the pan of the Cal 40. The new Yanmar was narrower and the new mounts were attached to aluminum L-sections bolted to the fiberglass mounts. I could send soem pics if it would help. I have pics of the old mounts and the new engine in place but had not taken any of the actual mounts with the new engine. We have the reverse problem with the 9.2's. The stringers are set for the 5411, which has engine mounts at 11.5" OC. The Yanmar in question is a 16" OC engine mount and the centerline for the crankshaft in relation to the fore-and-aft line of the "std" engine mount is also different by several inches. I expect that I will have to use 2 pieces of "L" bracket fashioned into a "Z" to the height for propshaft/trans-shaft and crankshaft in line as well as to get to the 16" mounting centers - but was curious about how it was done on the Silverswan. Thanks for the offer. However - we could always use the pics for the ftp files for "projects" ;-) TomT Michael Kennedy <mt… [at] cox.net> wrote: I have some pictures of the old engine mounts that were molded into the pan of the Cal 40.
