I am so jealous...boat is hauled, winterized and shrink wrapped...sigh. Snow

Well, I was up at the boat grinding paint off the interior of the
hull in the pilot berth while gorgeous sunshine beat down on the
deck. Someday this will all be over and I'll go sailing. Can't see
the light at the end of the tunnel yet, though.
I did find a bad leak under the toe rail up in the v-berth this
weekend. More fun. I'll have to take the toe-rail off, I guess. It
was always on the to-do list but not this soon.
If the boat were winterized and under 3 feet of snow, I'd be sitting
by the fire reading.
Count your blessings.

I agree. I drove out to the boat yesterday to brush a foot of snow off
the cover. There is still one boat out on a mooring--one of the yard
guys owns her and has been too busy to get her in. The iceboat club had
their boats set up in a parking lot on Saturday, trying to attract new
folks. I've got my hand in a cast after surgery to correct last
winter's iceboat capsize injury, and aiming to have it off in time for
sailing on the ice (if we are blessed with cooperative weather).
Rog is lucky to have a good boat, a sailing wife, and the kind of
disposition that keeps both of 'em happy in the boat. Not all people
can do that.

Mike,
We were out of the water for four years during our refit...been there. The
toe rail is the only exterior item we have not done. I hope to get another few
years from it before that project.

Chris-Like Rog, I am also blessed with a sailing wife (who would fight me
for the boat if we ever split up) and a great boat. Even our three Tibetan
Terriers get exited when we pull into the yacht club. Plus, I work in the marine
business-now, if only I can get to the point of making enough to support some
longer term cruising...3 weeks just isn't nearly enough.

I did too but experimented with a hose this weekend and got a flood.
We had noticed some dampness in the shelf on the starboard side. Now
I know why.

The materials for shrink wrap are actualy quite resonable. I
wrapped my CAL 35 this fall for a cost of about $150. I split the
100 ft shrink wrap role with anouth person. The shrink wrap was
about $100 and the 4" tape & door were less than $50. I purchased
it form dr-shrink on the web. It was not that hard to do. A friend
in the yard had purchased an ice melt gun for $35 and it worked
well. The yard would have charged $$475 to cover my boat
