double post

I thought I had cancelled the first post when I discovered that I had lost the link.
I would think it a big job to change the keel on a wood hull. The ones I've seen had a lead
shoe at the bottom but not a whole bolted on keel. I was not much involved the anything
bigger than dinghys until 1967 or 8 so what do I know.
I can remember walking down a dock in Wilmington about 1957 and seeing entire marinas
full of K 38s. I wonder where they all went ?

A bit off-subject... K-38's
Fin Beven2005-12-23 00:49 UTC
K-38's. It was the old California Yacht Anchorage on 22nd street. The first boat in the row was a varnished hull, and belonged to the owner of the marina. The second was Peggy Slater's Valentine. There must have been at least 10 on the north side of that row. It was a beautiful sight.

A friend of mine, Russell Smith, was part owner with his brother of a
bright finished K 38. I wonder if it's the same one.

The marina I was thinking of was back on the Cerritos Channel, toward
the end. I can't recall the name anymore. You could walk along the
dock and see a row of K 38s. I also recall some very cute girls
sunning themselves on those boats' foredecks. Maybe that's why it
stuck in my mind. Kettenberg built a lot of those boats.
