New prop (John)

Here is an email I saved from the Sailnet list about a fixed 3-blade prop that is supposed to have more thrust and less drag than a 2-blade, either fixed or folding. No personal experience, just passing it along. The reverse is almost scary. I've mentioned this prop many times on this list when folks are thinking about a folder for speed. It's cheaper, and fool proof. By the way I motor at about 7.5 which is about 1K faster than before... I do sail with it in gear. A visual inspection of the prop is that the blades are,,,,,,,"turned" at more of an angle so that they are more "fore and aft". When you are looking at the prop shaft on. You "see" less frontage as the two blade. Their web site is not real big but is baumannprops.com phone is 713-926-6908 Seems like I've posted this a lot. In gear? Rotating? How can this be? (Sounds good to me.) Folding prop is 6 seconds the bad way. My three blade fixed prop is about 1K FASTER when sailing (than my old two bladed fixed) also about 1K faster motoring, and I get 6 seconds for it.. I love it Bauman marine, sail drive in Houston TX. -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- AirForce delivers top quality sails at prices you can afford.
