New prop (John)
Here is an email I saved from the Sailnet list about a fixed 3-blade prop
that is supposed to have more thrust and less drag than a 2-blade, either
fixed or folding. No personal experience, just passing it along.

Yep Harleigh compared to the two blade fixed the ads say "20% more forward,
80% more reverse, and 20% less drag" After using this prop for three years
and meeting others with it ( including my bud who put me onto the prop) I
can say that's what you get. The reverse is almost scary. I've mentioned
this prop many times on this list when folks are thinking about a folder for
speed. It's cheaper, and fool proof. By the way I motor at about 7.5
which is about 1K faster than before...
I do sail with it in gear. A visual inspection of the prop is that the
blades are,,,,,,,"turned" at more of an angle so that they are more "fore
and aft". When you are looking at the prop shaft on. You "see" less
frontage as the two blade.

Seems like I've posted this a lot.

A fixed 3-blade prop is 1 kn faster sailing than a fixed 2-blade? In gear?
Rotating? How can this be? (Sounds good to me.)

Harleigh I like the site at http://www.phrfne.org/ They agree with my
local rating
Natural 156 (which is my hull number too) this is figured with a two
blade fixed.
this includes any sail up to 140% above that you take a hit..
Folding prop is 6 seconds the bad way.
My three blade fixed prop is about 1K FASTER when sailing (than my old two
bladed fixed) also about 1K faster motoring, and I get 6 seconds for it..
I
love it
