Rudder Lubrication on Cal2-25

Hi all, I have a Cal2-25. The rudder was not moving smoothly and easily. I noticed a grease fitting on the tube housing the rudder post, and greased the fitting. Later, I was told that I should have used lithium grease--I used standard grease. Apparently the regular grease will emulsify with water--causing problems. Have I screwed up? The greasing did not seem to help the rudder turn more freely. Thanks, Travis
