Yep, we're getting blasted down the Sound as well. We're likely to see 35+
gusts and 4+ seas between Bainbridge Island and Seattle.

I used to have property on Vashon and was going to build a retirement home there. A few
years ago, the ferry from West Seattle got "caught out" on a bad night and had to heave to
between the West Seattle terminal and the island. The guys going home were there all
night on the ferry. Wild times.
I finally sold the 10 acres but still miss the idea of living on an island. I had an architect
and a landscape architect who were ecstatic at the idea of planning a home there. We had
160 blue heron nests on one corner of the site. It had a 75 gallon a minute well with a
4,000 gallon storage tank. It would have been the only house nearby. It was close enough
to Seattle to go over for dinner but no bridge.
One year there was a proposal to build a bridge from the penninsula to Tacoma with a
terminus on the south end of Vashon. They had a public meeting at the high school.
10,000 people showed up. 99.8% were opposed to the bridge. I didn't know that many
people lived there.
Oh well. Southern California isn't so bad on a wet and windy night in the Sound.

We have had gusts in the mid 60's here in Bellingham. So you have
probably had more where you are.

The Northwest Pacific (Washington/BC/Alaska) coasts are going to be
getting hammered again tonight and tomorrow. Weather forecasters are
calling for winds in the Juan de Fuca Strait to be somewhere in the
area of 40-50 knots our of the SW. Winds higher the further up the
coast you go.
Last week we had winds gusting to 35 which took the end off our dock,
so I've added more lines and fenders. Sure hope my boat and dock is
still there tomorrow.

Well we survived another storm. Talking with the Queens Harbour
Master this morning and he said winds hit 53knots in the inner
harbour last night. Guess that would explain why the cassion
(Floating breakwater) broke free and ran aground before it plowed
into the sailboats. Numerous boats broke mooring lines and they show
the results this morning. The docks also took a beating, 3-4 foot
waves were washing across the docks as 6 Am this morning. I'm
pleased to say "Optima" survived the storm with only minor gelcoat
damage on the port side. They are calling for another storm this
weekend, sure hope they are wrong, not sure how much more the docks
can take.
