PHRF vs Portsmouth

Hi All, Okay, I am a few years out of the loop, but am prepping our Cal 25, Bravura, (Thanks Janet), for some racing this year. A customer who had bought one of my Atomic Fours decided to pay for our entry in the Annual Dauphin Island race, from Mobile, Alabama down the bay to Dauphin Island, only fifty miles west of Bayou Chico. So, I'm older than dirt, but still cannot get racing sailboats out of my system and we are planning a campaign. Fortunately, our PO, Janet Plume had prepped Bravura, Cal 25, #737 for racing and had campaigned her successfully for many years in New Orleans. We have a PHRF handicap of 228, better than our SoCal handicap in the 70's of 222. Since we have only raced our Hobie 16 and our Cal 20 since lodging here in Baja Alabama in 1995, we are not familiar with the "Portsmouth Ratings". Anyone have a clue which would offer the best advantage? We will be racing spinnaker class and are training a crew, so hope to be competitive. We would rather be racing class against other Cal 25's but Annapolis and Detroit are too far away and too cold. Hey, Charlie what are you doing April 29? Wanna race down here where we don't know what "frostbite" means? Tom and Bobbie Vandiver, Cal 25 Bravura and Cal Cruising 46 Satori
