Winch Wenches

OK,I know this list is heavily populated by males, but this gal had a lesson in winch servicing yesterday. It was a success, with a big ole Barlow 30 spinning freely for my efforts. My dock neighbor offered to teach me how to do my own winches, which she was shown by another gal while cruising somewhere in the south Pacific. Anyhow, we entirely dismantled and cleaned everything, laying out the pieces in the order they came out. Once the oiling and greasing and reassembly were completed, the men appeared on the scene. My DH's comment was something like, you mean you only took care of one of them today???!!! Lesson: If you want your female friend/wife/SO to learn to love your boat as much as you do, a little bit of recognition and encouragement goes a long way! Maybe I should ask him to cook dinner tonight?! NOT! girlsaylor
