BC Cal Rendezvous
Fred Haas2006-05-13 02:29 UTC
Hey Cal Listees, especially those based in the Puget Sound!
On the 23, 24 and 25 of next month, the BC Cal group is hosting a
rendezvous at Silva Bay, which is one of the prettiest resorts in the
Gulf Islands. You should check it out on their website. I'm going to
take Nemesis, and I wonder if any other Puget Sound Cals are going to
make the trip.
My plan is to stash the boat at Port Angeles the Sunday before, and
pick it up late Wednesday. The tides are huge that weekend, and should
help me make Silva Bay either Thursday night, or by midday Friday. I'll
leave on the tide Sunday morning, get as far as possible, and then ride
it down to Tacoma to be in late Monday. It's the better part of 130
miles each way from Tacoma, so I don't expect a leisurely trip, but it
looks to be quite an event. If others are going, it might be worthwhile
to hook up at some point along the way. Perhaps a Thursday night get
together in Bedwell Harbor would be fun. In any case, please give the
event some consideration, and if anyone else from down this way is
going, please let me know

Hey, Fred -
I am planning to be up there as the "spouse" while my wife, St. Lori,
attends a four-day function in Vancouver in September. I plan to charter
something in the fifty-foot powerboat class to stay aboard and for a party
or two. Let's try to get together, okay?

\Rog,
Sounds good to me. I'm planning a three week cruise north in September,
probably to Princess Louisa and Sechelt Peninsula. The Sunshine Coast
is quite beautiful. I'll leave Tacoma just after Labor Day, and
possibly hit the Wooden Boat Show at Pt. Townsend on my way north. I'd
love to meet you and your sainted wife. My wife, Sandy, refers to it as
"my boat and her Nemesis" and has not been away from the dock with me
in the past year. She has been invited on the September cruise, but is
making no commitments.
Keep Smiling,
Fred Haas

Fred,
I am still considering the trip. My boat is back in the water (12 coats of
epoxy & 2 of bottom paint since you saw it). I have to get some details
worked out at home before I can finalize the decision.

Hey Fred,
Glad to hear you are coming up!
We are taking Chimera over, and there will be another 3-30 (Eroica)
from Vancouver going as well, and maybe another (Redline).... so there
will be at least 3 3-30s there.... maybe 4.
Look forward to meeting you and Nemisis. I presume the beam refit all
worked out.

Hey Rog
Keep in touch for when you come to Vancouver. I'd be happy to take you
out on the bay for a sail.
That goes for anyone else on the list that happens to visit up here
too....
