boarding ladder steps

The Cal 31 has a pivoting boarding ladder mounted on the transom. The
tubing hurts the feet of us old, overweight guys. I looked in Google for
"boarding ladder steps" and came up with a product called Sole Savers at

roup=480> &cart=114953892712725649&group=480 . The photos show a very
similar ladder. Sole Savers were designed for Catalinas in lengths of 30,
34, and 36 in model years 1980-1989. Does anyone know if these will fit the
Cal 31?
I hope to get down to my boat tomorrow to take some measurements.

Further Googling for Sole Savers turned up the manufacturer, and an inquiry
to them disclosed that they will make them to order if you give them the
distance between the uprights and the center to center distance of the posts
that hold the pivots. I ordered a set today.

LAYC has always had a nice atmosphere. Roger, any thoughts about my
paint problem ?
I'm also open to volunteers with sandpaper. Dinko's Yard Saturday
morning. Unlimited beer and sandwiches plus Cal 40 sailing once we
finally get it put together. My kids all seem to have discovered
other priorities. I'll need crew including crew for Catalina. All
offers seriously considered.

It's called
Wilmington Marine Service, Inc
801 S Fries Ave, Wilmington, CA 90744
Tel: 310-834-1186
It's up the main channel north of the Vincent Thomas Bridge. Fries
Street comes off Alameda in Wilmington.
I'm hauling the Cal 40 there tomorrow. I'll be working on it this
weekend.
