Re: [Cal_Boats] CAL 27- Looking for my Hull Plate?
Since the Capacity Plate/Max HP is not required for boats over 20' (and
technically not required for any sailboats), CAL wouldn't have put one
on. For Capacity use Length x Beam / 15 = number of people. For Max HP
there is a formula, but it really doesn't work for a displacement hull
sailboat (L x B x 2)-90 = Max HP. I'd say 15-20 HP would be the realistic
max, any larger engine would be useless since you can only push a
displacement hull to "hull speed" (1.34 x sq. root of Waterline length).

I am still getting familiar with my boat. Could anyone direct me as
to where I could find my hull plate on my CAL 27. Insurance needs a
Max HP from this. I am also wondering if it will tell me a capacity
or weight limit.
Thanks!
