grab rail replacement

Hello all I need to replace the grab rails on our 1976 Cal 2-34. Between previous owner modifications and the general condition of the wood, they aren't worth keeping. A couple of questions. 1. Other than purchasing the wood and making them myself, are there manufactures who already have the pattern, and who sell at a reasonable price? 2. Is it necessary to secure the grabrail by bolting down into the cabin, or can you secure it by srewing up from the cabin? Our boat is on an inland lake and not subject to extreme sailing conditions. Any advice is appreciated. Brian
