sliding hatch parts HELP
Scott Sauvageot2006-07-24 13:18 UTC
Hi all, I'm rebuilding the pop-top on my flat top Cal 25. The old hatch
slliders (plasitc) have cracked off, leaving the sliding portion of my
pop-top free to "take a tumble." Does anyone know of a source of
tracks/sliders for companionway hatches? If the tracks are different, I
don't mind installing new, so I'm not worried about matching the original
track.
I have the pop-top off the boat in my basement while i install the new deck
core and beam, so I figured it was a good time as any to do these repairs.
Your assistance is appreciated,
Scott S.

hi scott,
I'm working on a similar project in San Francisco we should stay in touch
maybe we could help each other?
I heard you could get those at this place in Alemeda , CA. It's called
Sylvensens (spelling?) . It's the marine shop at Alemeda Marina.
Sorry but I haven't made it that far yet. Won't attemp changing those rails
till september. Keep me posted on your progress.

Hi Trey,
One of our Cal 25'ers in Annapolis has been working with a fabrication company to make new sliders, but with limited success. I'll keep everyone posted with my progress. Hopefully someone else in our list has a source or a solution to our problem.
Keep those ideas coming!
Scott

Try Svendsen's Marine/Svendsen's Boat Works, 1851 Clement Avenue, Alameda,
CA 94501 510-522-2886 www.svendsens.com <http://www.svendsens.com/> .
They do a lot on Cals and may well have the part. Another place to try is
Steve Seals at Seals Spars. www.sealsspars.com <http://www.sealsspars.com/>
.
Best of luck.

Okay, guys, you raised the eerie specter of the past.
Whatever happened to Rusty Russell and to Catman?
I miss both of them and was curious about where they disappeared to. Also,
whatever happened to Per Curtis? And Chris Pittack and Ward Osborne? Just
wondering, since you all brought this up. dEmO seems to have delisted as
well. And Brian Cleverly (the famous or infamous BC) is gone, too. Hmmmm.
Was it something we said?
