Many thanks. I'd been looking through my old references for this site.
For those with the small winches with no rollers, I had a pair of those
(forget which vendor) on my deck. Started to seize up very soon after
purchase. I put in a bit of grease. They seized up again. When I
finally sent them back, I received new replacement winches with roller
bearings inside. Company was out of business not too long thereafter.
Apparently, the lubrication made the sleeves swell, causing the seizing.
