Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I have considered a check valve, but was (and still am) concerned for the potential to clog with debris. The idea I like best is Scott's, i.e. fix the real problem.... Thanks for the re-focus, Scott. My boat has been wet with few exceptions since I bought her in 1976 when she was less than two years old. I figured it was just a Cal-25 thing. I have been thinking about doing what you suggest. Maybe that's the best answer. Regards the hoses, I'm thinking I could bring the hose for the small electric pump up along the hull to the coaming and put a loop there, then route the hose "downhill" to the transom. That way the only water that got back into the bilge would be from the vertical part before the loop. I considered a check valve, but was concerned about the potential for clogging. Al >
