I am getting replace the Halyards on a CAL 30. Does anyone have any experience with regards to changing from wire rope and line to all line? Thanks Brent J

There is a lot of institutional memory on this list. We've been through this a few times before. It's no bid deal. What do you need to know? \Rog Cal 29+ #1 Swiss Navy Cal 2-30 #77 St. Lori's Comet _____ From: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com [mailto:Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of BJake Sent: Friday, August 25, 2006 9:12 PM To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Subject: [Cal_Boats] Halyards Wire Rope and Line vs All line I am getting replace the Halyards on a CAL 30. I went through this process this year. Your sheaves may work just fine with rope. If your feel like they are worn, may bind, or may chaffe, you can get new ones from http://www.zephyrwerks.com/ in Port Townsend. They are easy to deal with. I sent them my old ones and they made up new to specs. As for halyards, there are many low stretch products out there. Look up Samson ropes & New England Ropes on the web. They have some guides for choosing. It seems to come down to stretch versus cost. As for size, on my 29, I went with 5/16. Large enough to handle easily. Others on this list will have good advice on this question.
