Delays, excuses & 7 more storm damaged boats

Tom Vandiver2006-08-28 16:35 UTC
Hi Cal Folks, Maybe the cumulative effects of a happily enjoyed life, too much sailing,(in the olden days), too much sun, booze, challenges, etc. have softened my reasoning powers. I recently took on seven more storm damaged boats to dispose of in any manner I saw fit. I have given away - Yes, FREE 1-O'Day 23 1-Seafarer 24 1-Chris 37' Old Woodie Have parted out 1-Catalina 27 1-Alden design 40' yawl Have an Olsen 30, no spars, to give away - This week or it gets crushed and taken to the dump Am saving a Pearson 33 K/CB, which we will pretty up over the winter and sell next spring. Or AS IS $5K Excuses: To those of you who I have promised photos, measurements, etc., just too much for one old fellar and the Princess. Plus, I somehow twisted my right hip two weeks ago and have bursitis and cannot walk without great pain. Even a cortisone injection did not cure the problem, but I was getting better, so much so, yesterday I hopped down on to the 34' SF I am restoring and did it again *&%$$#@! OUCH! If that is not enough - hurricane season and I still have Shawn's Cal 3-30 at my dock, along with "Satori" our Cal 46, "Bravura" our Cal 25, "Chico Limo" our 25' pontoon, "Sandy Shell" our 34' Sport Fisher and "Old Mustard" our 20 work barge. Now I can't walk for a while, so have hired two helpers to complete the parting out, hurricane prep, etc. What happen? We retired in May 1988 and sailed away in "Satori", such fun, a life's dream, 2 years in Mexico, Costa Rico, Panama, through the canal, up the Tenn-Tom, then Bahamas, 2 1/2 years in the Caribbean, ladeda, etc. Life was GOOD! No dirt, everything was paid off, no cares, tropical pleasures, cheap rum, etc. Memories are good, though. As Charlie H says, "CHEERS" I am still alive and we are dreaming of sailing away again. Need an entire summer in the Chesapeake, wonderful people and cruising. Also, need another Caribbean circuit with more time in the places we liked, no time in the places we did not like and check out the places we missed. Plenty to dream about! Tom and Bobbie Vandiver, Bayou Chico, FL Y'all come visit, we have a guest house down by the dock where you can look out and see three Cal boats.
