Rog, are you referring to our next Island trip (sept.8-9-10) or the next one
(oct.6-7-8) ?

Hi, Dan --
Didn't know about the October run. I can definitely make it down there for
that one, though not in the 2-30. That will have to wait for next summer,
now.
Does anyone have a berth for me? I'll bring the libations and whatever else.

Rog,
Find you a berth? Your kidding, right? Consider yourself booked into the
luxury suite on Mariposa. Just give me a shout. No schedule pressures,
either. If you had to bail at the last minute I would single-hand over.
You don't have to bring anything but your personal sleeping bag.

I just doofussed (was Santa Cruz Island Trip)(David and Dan)
Rog Jones2006-08-30 04:07 UTC
Hi, guys -
Can't make those dates (October 6, 7 and8) after all. Turns out I am going
to be in Annapolis that weekend and in Connecticut the following few days. I
forgot I had promised Charlie and Alfred that I wanted to do the Good Old
Boat Regatta this year. Just can't be in two places at once, dammit! But I
will get with you to see if we can schedule another event. Looks like I owe
to of you a bottle of scotch a piece!
Please forgive my doofusness.
Thanks and sorry.

Bummer.
I thought about the GOBR this year again (I dream of it every year it
seems,) but have too much travel already booked. I was all set last year
and the skipper that had invited David Dobbs and I to be his "ringers" sold
his boat at the last minute. Alfred probably scared him off with Dark 'N
Stormy stories.
For what it's worth, Dan doesn't really drink scotch so no use giving him a
bottle. I guess I'll just have to take them both. YARRR!

Somebody mentioned that they would invite me if I could get back there for the regatta.
That was a month or two ago and I didn't know if I could get away. If anyone wants
another crew member, most of whose experience is as old as the boat, I'm willing. I've
been trying to get back there to do a couple more interviews for the Cal 40 history project
and one of them is near Annapolis. Anyway, let me know off list if there is a spot. I also
want to go to Mystic Seaport for another day in the library there. Maybe Rog and I could
share a rental car. Anyway, let me know if someone wants another crew member for the
regatta and I'll make arrangements.

GOBR and Boat Show
Harleigh Ewell2006-08-30 14:35 UTC
Does the Annapolis Sailboat Show extend until Monday? The reason I ask is
that I will be tied up racing my car that Thurs.-Sun. (and won't be able to
attend the GOBR either).

Hey Alfred,
Here is a chance to break some bad news (or good news depending on your
perspective). I have other commitments this year and will not be able to
attend the GOBR. So if you are short crew, you may want to get commitment
from Rog and Mike. This may give you the chance at the bullet I have been
unable to help you get. :-)
I am going to miss this year, especially with the celebs making the event.
Maybe I can make it in 2008!

Hi Rog,
I'll be down in Annapolis for the show/(probably regatta). Afterwards,
when you are up in CT, if you are near Bridgeport and looking to sail
on LIS on either a Cal 2-27 or and Aloha 32, drop me a line, all Cal-listers
always welcome!
