Hi all,
I just purchased a 1973 Cal 2-29. Could someone please let me
know some of the inherent problems re: this boat and vintage. This
boat needs lots of TLC but everything works fine. It has an 11HP
Farryman diesel. Advice anyone??? Thanks

Hi -
What is your name, by the way - around here we are a family and we actually
use real names!
Have you sailed her yet?
What do you need? I was the plant engineer when these were built. How can I
help?

Hi,
I also have a 1973 Cal 2-29 and was curious what hull number you have, what her name is and where you are.

Hello everyone and apologies for my lack of yahoo group etiquette. My name is Ira Reba, live in the Boston area and work in Gloucester, MA. My most previous boat was a 1976 Dufour 34. I have been sailing for about 20 years, having learned by racing first, then owning and cruising. I'm 30 trying to break out of a 58 year old body. The sailing/boat thing has changed my life on many levels! Looking forward to possibly meeting other Cal owners in New England and elsewhere.
Thanks to those who responded to my initial post with offers of congrats, advice and help. Thanks for making me feel welcome!

Hello Rog and thanks so much for the warm welcome.
Apparently, from reading posts from the Cal group, you
are the resident guru. And since you offered your
assistance, here goes:
Re: Farryman 12HP.....there looks like slimy black
sludge being pumped out through the exhaust. Is that
normal? Is the exhaust combined with the bilge water?
Re: Sails....Do you know anyone getting rid of sails
for the Cal 2 29? Mine are really, really shot.
Enough so that I must truck the boat from Fairhaven,
MA to Gloucester, MA rather than sail it. Being that
I don't have enough time with the engine, I don't feel
that motoring would be the safe thing to do. Any
suggestions?
In advance, Thanks for your help..
