I had seen it before but hadn't taken a good look. I looked at all his pictures. That seems
to be a good price and a 2000 Awlgrip paint job is worth a lot. It would be of interest to
know how old the diesel is and whether the spar is original. It needs some cosmetics
inside but is not bad and the price seems good.
Go for it.

You got it right! at $50,000 more, you get a boat with $150,000 of work
into it, and get on the water 5 years faster than the $33,000 boat...
How do I know? I - (we) have well over $200,000 invested over 10 years
on our Cal 40... and still counting!

You could have told me that two years ago and saved me an awful lot of trouble. I was
looking all over and nearly made an offer on one in Anacortes but it sold before we got
there. Then I saw one listed in Vancouver with all new mechanicals for $105k. I thought
"Who in the world would put that much money into a Cal 40 ?" Little did I know.
On the other hand, I feel like I am rescuing one of these great old boats. Like having a
1935 Ford Roadster. We adopted a crippled bassett hound a few years ago. He was
cheaper than the Cal 40 but he couldn't sail. Just howl.
Belle Aurore is gorgeous and won her class in the Chicago-Mackinac Race a couple of
years ago. Now she is on the Chesapeake.

Hello
everyone
This boat looks great you can make it a 70k 90k whatever but for me a basic boat
with all the parts at this price. I would buy it cause it would fit the bill
My 2 cents
