There was a good time had by all as Randy already stated. Just remember, what happens at Santa Cruz Island, stays at Santa Cruz Island. Just kidding! It was great to meet Erick and Randy, finally putting faces with names. I am grateful to Dave and Bill for staying up and keeping in touch with Randy as he made his way into the anchorage. The margaritas starting flowing pretty early in the day for some of us so we were in bed by 9:30. I seem to remember being able to stay up longer in days gone by. The 5 mile hike on Saturday was absolutely fabulous with breathtaking views but has made it's presence known this morning. I seem to remember being able to do that easier in days gone by as well. I hope the October trip is as blessed with good weather and great folks. Daniel Casey "Air Time" Cal 9.2R #75 Santa Barbara, Ca.

I also enjoyed this outing and as we discussed on Dan's boat, everybody seemed way overdue for this island trip. It was nice to get Randy and Eric out for a rendezvous -- we've talked about doing it since both joined the Cal List. The weekend seemed too short. I didn't get a chance to do my normal "Boat Crawl," though I did get the complete tour of "Allegria," a beautifully kept Cal 34. I was, unfortunately, still picking lime pulp out of my hair Sunday night as I showered the weekend off. I took a used Margarita to the right eye off the starboard side of Dan's boat, and later one to the back of the head off the port side. NOTE: Approach "Air Time" from the transom when the Margarita lamp is lit. Moments after the second event, I discovered that a Pelican had shit in my inflatable. I discovered this after it was rather too late. NOTE: Carry flashlight for late night departure dinghy boarding. There were 3 Cal 29s, 2 Cal 34s, a Cal 9.2R and a couple of our buddies tagged along from the Dock (Islander Freeport 36 and a J-145.) Chuck and Patty Lennox reported a perfect spinnaker run back to Ventura with a nice breeze and seas flat enough that they had chicken on the Bar-B-Que. Mariposa and Air Time had a very close reach home. Once off-shore of the anchorage, my GPS only dipped below 6 knots a few times and topped 7 frequently the last few miles into Santa Barbara. Was this the "Pilot" for a CCSCCC (Cal Club Santa Cruz Champagne Caper?)
