Cal Reviews
While going thru an old book store, I came across Vol 1-3 of Sailing
Designs featured in Sailing Magazine reviewed by Robert H. Perry.
It was interesting to read his comments on the various boats but
what really peaked my interest was a couple of reviews on Cal boats.
One being the Cal-50, he said the design was by C. Raymond Hunt
Associates which was designed as a ketch. Were any built, an
internet search didn't find any.
Another review was on a Lapworth 55, Pilothouse cutter, looks like
the larger verion of the Cal-46. The review stated the boat was to
be built by Willard Con. in California, were any built??
Lastly was a review on a Cal 44, drawn by Boyce and S.M.W. and to be
constructed by Bangor Punta Marine Corp, do any exist??
This collection of reviews were published in the spring of 1986.
They make for very interesting reading.
