Your Invited: Cal Rendezvous the 7-8 October in Port Orchard, Washington.
Keith and Susan2006-09-23 01:16
Hi this is Keith and Susan on the Cal 40 Kismet.
The Northwest Roaring 40's Cal 40 club invites owners of all Cal boats
to our rendezvous in Port Orchard, WA on the 7th and 8th of October.
Port Orchard is a great little town with an excellent marina.
We have many restaurants in walking distance. Three upper end
restaurants, Amy's on the Bay, Tweetens Lighthouse and the new
Anthony's Home Port (a short ferry away in Bremerton $1.25 each way).
Other downtown food includes Myries cafe, Eileen's Lumpia, KFC and
two Chinese food. We also have a downtown bakery. The Moondog Tavern
(good hamburgers - allows Kids till 9PM). Bay Street Ale house serves
Pizza (no Kids). There is a small store "Marina Mart" downtown also.
No downtown Liquor store.
Please brave the fall weather and join us for a roaring 40 time!
Bring your tall tales and sea thrills - the more the merrier!
See you there!
Keith and Susan

Fiver - bring yourself, your smile, your stories and your Kinfolk - however
you get here is great.
Two years ago I was is a Tolly power boat, last year a MacGregor 26M, now
I'm in a Cal 40. I got more power boat in me than sail - but the Cal has
won my heart!

Thanks!
and just for the record; i like Tolly's. even met old Man Tolifn
(owner of Tollycraft) a few times while working on His try-cabin. but
my personal favorite was always the 61 Tolly. i must have done 10 or
15 of those. best damn pocket-yacht sense the 65' Cris-Conies. now
that was a yacht; it's a shame they never made those in glass....
but i will ask Karen (my Sister) tomorrow about going. i think
She will want to go as She was the One Who both encouraged and helped
fiance my tripe down to Marina Del Rey to get BB-54. and then went
with me in a truck with no air-conditioning.
please be warned though, it will be very hard for me to put
names with people, or boat's. i am good with engineering and the
like, but not with name's and face's.......

Hey, Keith & Susan!
it seems my Sister is going out of town Thursday next week
for a while, and i am going to be left here alone to watch things on
the property. so at this point i am not sure weather or not i am
going to make it next weekend.
but even if i do make the big get-together; the only way BB-
54 could ever get there is by boat-trailer behind my crew-cab at this
point. and that wouldn't be a very dignified first-showing for the
old-girl, now would it......
but just so i know, where in Port Orchard is this Show going
to be anyhow?

We're on very southern Whidbey Island and just came into a Cal 25
fixer upper (yes, it's The Deck). Too bad this comes so early; our
outboard just went in for overhaul as it was probably started by the
dealer & not rinsed dozens of times before the boat sold. It runs
great but isn't pumping much water. I doubt it'd be ready by next weekend.
(The deck job can wait, it'll come as soon as practical next spring.
We can sail meanwhile.)
We'll keep an eye out for other events because we're just about
ideally located for day-tripping to destinations as far south as
Seattle or north as Port Townsend.

Fiver,
It's at the Port Orchard Marina. There is a nice launch & parking just next
door to the marina. Come in on Friday and we'll help you on the QT. Keith
said to borrow your sister's boat... Or just come over for the day and hang
out.
Also, I've been meaning to ask you ever since you shared the origin of your
name, how is it pronounced? Does it rhyme with giver or is it five-er?
Hope to meet you in person soon.
Susan

Greetings, Susan...
it's "five-er". or sometimes i even write it *5er* when i am e-
mailing friends.
that heavy Bayliner of my Sister's guzzle's gas twice as fast
as my crew-cab towing a big 5th wheel trailer. so i think i will
leave it to Her to pay the gas bills for it. and i will just drive
the Xtarra if i come.
but i will try to be there, Susan....
fiver,
Master of The "BB-54"
one of the famous Cal-28 flush-decks
out of Sierra-5, Papa Hotel (in days gone by)
now resting outside my shop
Federal Way, Wa.
(built like a Battleship; sails like a Sub......)
