Hey, Charlie
Walk next door to Silver Gate Yacht Club, go down the ramp to the docks, and
keep going straight to the end. In slip A49 you'll find Hana, our Cal 40.
Feel free to sit in the cockpit with a beer and watch the sun go down. Email
me off-list and I'll tell you how to get to the beer.
How long are you in town? Maybe we can meet down there.
George

Well, Mike, funny you should mention the SDYC. I've just been looking
at it from my room at the Bay Club Hotel on Shelter Island. Sun rises
in the wrong place out here. Also, there is a CAL 28 original with a
bright green hull stripe and a red dinghy behind it in the second row
out. Anybody on the list?
Cheers
Charlie

If that's the same boat that went to Tahiti, that's a nice boat. I assume it is. When I was
looking for a 40 two years ago, Mike Jr and I went up to Anacortes to look at one that had
just been sold. We didn't know about Hana which was a little further north at Bellingham.
You got a pretty boat with the kinks worked out. Ours had nothing but kinks but they are
almost gone. New toe rail next week.

Gee, how about the rest of us? Aren't you going to treat us to a beer
too? Guess I'll have to stay here at work.

OK, Chris, I'll get 30 MGDs and FAX them out.
George, I'll be in touch sometime today. Unfortunately not setting my
own schedule here.
Cheers

I'll have to run out and measure the ID of the telephone cable first.
Maybe you can send them by e-mail instead.

George:
Your note to Charlie reminded me of our visit to the
Silver Gate Yacht Club a year or two ago. It was a wonderful
experience in which Dody and I got to meet a number of Cal 40 owners
and to see their boats. On the strength of those memories, I'm about
to have a beer and watch the sun go down here in Moscow, Idaho.

I have had many beers in Moscow, Idaho. Is the Pine Tree tavern still
there? Probably not. My last beer there was almost 50 years ago. I had
a girlfriend at the U and the hot spot for dates was the SUB.
Probably not still the same. Our hangout in Cour D'Alene was the
Athletic Round Table, or "ART." That was still the days of blue laws
in Idaho and Washington. The other hot spot in those days was the
Early Bird in a hotel in Spokane. Private clubs were popular because
they were exempt from the blue laws. The Early Bird had a pornographic
puppet show on weekends. Only time I ever saw anything like that.
That was life in the Northwest in the old days. Long ago. Why, they
still had houses of ill-repute in Wallace and Kellog in those days.
