I went to West Marine today in preparation for this weekends projects knowing they would have to order some things and was shocked when I walked out the door with everything I needed. Everything from sanitation hose (3/4" & 1-1/2"), vented loops, hose clamps, oil-lamp globe, head-lube and cabin heater. Never say Never! Daniel Casey "Air Time" Cal 9.2R #75 Santa Barbara, Ca.

... or possibly Kelley Marine just down the street from there on 22nd - they had the fasteners I needed when the crummy job the PO had done on something crucial suddenly needed redoing. That stimulated some discussion. I was talking to Jeff the shipwright who is replacing the toe rail on the Cal 40. He told me they would be farther along except for the fact that West Marine has been out of 5/16 bolts for several weeks. Then, without prompting from me he grumbled that they are always out of stock in 1/4-20 bolts the most common size. This is a guy in the business with a Port Supply account. Secondly, the Mustang PFDs from Sailnet arrived yesterday with the package damaged but I haven't inspected the PFDs yet. It would be difficult to ensure that they will inflate properly but, if I am in any doubt, I will waste a couple of cartridges. Better to find out now han in he water. I took some more pictures of the toe rail progress and of Roby Bessent's restoration of the Cal 37, formerly Intrepid II. I'll post them later today.
