Re: Cal keels

The Cal 28 Lapworth predates and is the model for the Cal 25, it has encapsulated lead. I think the Cal 24 mk2 is bolt on as well as the original Cal27-1, I seem to remember my friend who has a 27 Mk-1 saying something about keel bolts, but I'm not sure about it. I T-boned the submerged breakwater in San Diego, lost in the darkness after the MdR to San Diego Race, it knocked my CB up and down, but that was it. In any other boat it would have been a disaster, we were going pretty fast and under power at the time. My Cal 24, the original Cal, draws only 30" with the Center Board up. Nice to have fool's luck once and a while. Jerry
