That's quite impressive. When I was 14, my sailing was limited to a
Sunfish, and my general level of skill at any endeavor was extremely
limited. Same with my capacity for independent action and judgment.
This kid's example reinforces the notion that sailing is a good teacher
of independence and self reliance. Good for him.

Of course having your father two miles behind you staying in radio contact
helps too... He is sailing solo in a fleet of two boats. This should teach
him some valuable lessons, however I wonder why they are not planning to
sail the boat back? They are going to ship it back, (and sell the fathers
boat) seems like a waste of a perfectly good opportunity for youngest
atlantic roundtrip.
