I don't have any experience with this but I do remember reading some unhappy remarks on Sailing Anarchy, not that that is anything unusual over there. http://www.sailinganarchy.com/forums/index.php?s=370eded976131ccc9eafcd9970c83217&showtopic=22549&hl=tacktic John From: Randy Alcorn <sa… [at] yahoo.com> To: ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, January 22, 2007 6:14:50 AM Subject: [Cal_Boats] Wireless Electronics Hi all, I am looking for a wireless set up for racing. Is TACKTICS the only thing out there? Are you happy with TACKTICS? I crew on a Olson 30 and the displays are pretty small. I am going to be crew on a Flying Tiger this season and we are setting the boat up. Does anyone recommend anything over the other? Funny you should mention that. I was just talking to the Tacktics rep at the Philly boat show, and he mentioned that they used to be 'a favorite topic' on sailing anarchy! Anyway, the new series has user replaceable batteries, so one of the major complaints has be corrected. td From: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com [mailto:Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com]On Behalf Of John Courter Sent: Monday, January 22, 2007 4:21 PM To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Cal_Boats] Wireless Electronics I don't have any experience with this but I do remember reading some unhappy remarks on Sailing Anarchy, not that that is anything unusual over there. http://www.sailinganarchy.com/forums/index.php?s=370eded976131ccc9eafcd9970c83217&showtopic=22549&hl=tacktic John From: Randy Alcorn <sa… [at] yahoo.com> To: ca… [at] yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, January 22, 2007 6:14:50 AM Subject: [Cal_Boats] Wireless Electronics Hi all, I am looking for a wireless set up for racing. Randy: To save the labor cost of running a wire down the mast of a Cal 27 III, I installed a Tacktick unit on a boat I have in Florida. It has worked flawlessly and I believe accurately for over a year. Only problem I had was with a large bird that broke off the wind direction arrow which Tacktick replaced for free. It functions equally as well as a wired installation I have on a 37 Tartan on Lake Erie.
