Cal 37 Quasar For Sale
usa37322007-03-07 22:14
We were looking at the boat as a possible restoration project; but decided to wait for the
right 40 to come along. The boat is located in Alta, CA which is 30 miles or so north of
Sacramento. Quasar is complete and has a steel cradle but needs a complete rebuild.
The owners are moving and need to sell the boat by April 30th. Asking $7K but somewhat
negotiable. I will uploaded some (not very good) photos including the original CL ad that has
the contact info.

Where are the photos ? I think Quasar was the first 37 and was raced to Hawaii by Art Biehl.

Mike, they are in the Photos section in a folder labeled "Cal 37 Quasar."
On the old Cal 40 list Quasar is Cal 40 #111 & Cal 37 #1.

That boat has a reverse transom so it was probably modified after delivery, like the east
coast boats.
Fin, is there any chance that this was the boat you sailed on out of Long Beach ? Also, it
does not have a bowsprit. Maybe it was Conquest for a while ?
Looks like a big project.,

Look at Hoot Mon in my photo album to see what you can accomplish. All you need is
$100,000 and a year and a half of free time.

I hope this change involves adding recent photos of your new crew, Chris!
Will we see you in October for GOBR?
Best wishes,

Jon,
I¹ll add some photos of the First Mate later in the season. He¹s two
already--hard to believe--and just the right size to send up the mast on a
Cal 20. ;-)
Don¹t think I¹m gonna make the GOBR again this year, but am planning a
circumnavigation of the Delmarva in late June or July. I know there
typically isn¹t a lot of wind in July on the Bay, but I¹m counting on global
warming to help with that.
Best,
Chris
