RE: Was New Cal 27 Owner....FINALLY!

Thanks to those that responded to my original post. I bought the boat
today. Found out it was a 71 and is hull #13 (I think this is good
luck for a racing boat, don't you?), her name is "Ceremony" (to be
changed) and all and all I'm pretty stoked. An appropriate discount
was given due to the age of the boat, and there is some cosmetic
restoration to be done but I am definitely looking forward to next
weekend! Thanks again everyone. I look forward to becoming an active
member on this site as well as the class association, if there is one.
Thanks again!
Susan

I was the member with the brochure for the 1973 model. I actually had two of them. Don't you love the orange striped interior cushions? It was the 70's!
I have a 1973 Pop Top, Hull #255, Sloop du Jour. She's been a great boat, in spite of my neglecting her the past couple of years. IShe still sails great! 'm in the process of adding shore power to her and doing some basic cleanup and water leak/moisure prevention
I'm also changing many of the wood exterior components to grey starboard. I had placed risers under many of my deck organizers, blocks, clutches and winches a few years back. These were made of teak and impe. I just can't keep up with the varnish in the hot and humid Oklahoma summers. I'm even thinking or cutting new grabrails and hatch slides out of the same material. Its not as attractive as gleaming brightwork but its better than cracked and pealing teak. Besides, they'll be more time to sail!

I had #273 for 2 years, sailed great. A sweet boat, you won't be dissappointed.
