Rutgers, Imus, was: Re:clarifacation on fiver's move......

Folks, now that you mention it, and I hope this isn't tooooo political. I'm a Rutgers Alumnus. I put in four hard years busting my rear working out and competing on the Swim Team, following in me older brothers footsteps. I usually swam three events in a typical dual meet, starting with the 1000 yard freestyle (20 laps of a 75' pool) followed by either the 200 yd individual medly (100 yds each of the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) or, the 200 yd butterfly, and ending up doing the last event, the 500 yd freestyle, which, until my Jr. year used to be the long distance event.
Now for some Loud-Mouth with overcooked spaghetti for brains had called us crew-cut-headed pimps on a nation wide broadcast after we had missed the NCAA Championships by ten points (we were pretty proud of our best ever fourth place finish in the East Coast Championships my senior year in 64), I'd have wanted his head on a platter. And yes, it's about time the American people said a loud NO to the blidge crud that passes for music and lyrics the past 15 years.
My girlfriend who is a volunteer teacher's aide in kindergarten sees the kids playing and singing to the crap they here on the radio and their older sibling play even tho they don't quite yet know what the slang words like bitch and ho mean.
Well the good thing is that this fiasco gave Rutgers a lot of positive publicity in reaction against Imus' filthy words, and contributions to the school are up, and maybe, just maybe the varsity swim team will exist for one more year. It had been scheduled to be shut down after this year for lack of finances, the NJ state finances are so deeply in debt. And, I wonder, why? Partly because it is squandering huge sums trying to be a nationally ranked football power? Cross state helicopter rides, and third of a million dollar salary for the football coach? Jet fare for the team and marching band? I wonder if our sailing team is defunct too? We had new 13'Alpha sloop dinghies when I was there, my first taste of real sailing after building model sailboats from scratch all thru my childhood.

I'd say it might be, so I will refrain from starting the ball rolling.
OOPS, guess I just did.... ;-)
Sorry Jerry!

Jerry,
No wonder you didn't win the NCAA championship. You kept quitting halfway
through the race (e.g. 75'/3 = 25 yds x 20 = 500 yds.). :>)
