Why? Why dilute the pool?

Cal boats are almost everywhere I think right. And a SF bay group can promote
some activities and bring even more boats into the fold.
I will stay open minded about the information
network we all love the e-net.
Just my 2cents
Also the more information is great. Let it flow.
Great work to all the Cal group org.. and moderators.

There is going to be one in St. Petersburg, Russia in about a month from now. Looks like the boat is sold. Purchaser is going to sail it back home.

yea;
that is sort-of how fiver saw it too. why dilute a great group? i
mean maybe we need a pacific northwest Cal group? but i don't think so
even though i live up here. and even though we have lots of Cal's up
here too. we need more unity, not more clicks in my opinion.....

I guess it's a matter of what you see the purpose of the groups for.
Speaking only for myself, the main cal group is wonderful for information
exchange about the boats themselves. But a more local email list, for me,
would be more about local interests: get-togethers, racing, etc.
I don't see it as dilution, but a side-channel to discuss stuff the main
group would be bored with. I could see that the PNW and SoCal cals could use
similar lists to discuss their own stuff.
OTOH, if the sfcal list doesn't take off, no biggie.

Hey, fiver,
We're not trying to dilute the Cal Boats group. Hell, I advertise it
on my own blog and on the new SF Cal Boat group. As Bob says, it's
aimed at local interests: get-togethers, racing, etc.
I'm a big supporter of the MAIN Cal group, and will continue to be.
And the local group may actually bring more people into the worldwide
Cal group.

Jim,
I just hope that you keep us all up to speed on what your "local" group is
doing of interest. Last year, I had hopes of attending Caltopia....
Maybe this year?
