opening ports for 2-27?
wind76dancer2007-06-25 14:14
Does anyone have experience installing opening portlights on the 2-27?
Specifically, what size and brand were used? I an having a hard time
finding anything close to the dimensions of the current fixed lexan
ports. Thanks!

Nancy,
I replaced the ports on Magic (Cal 2-27, Hull 627, 1979). I used standard Beckson 5x12 ports, although now I wish I had used their "rain-drain" version.
What are the dimensions of your ports?

Michael,
The ports are 5x12 3/4 - so I ordered the next size up in Beckson
openining ports and they are 7x14 1/2. When they arrived I realized
they are WAY too big and would require substantial cutting of the
cabin sides, something my engineer husband wasn't too excited about
doing to our boat! I think I will try ordering the Beckson rain
drain (we do get a bit of rain around here) version of the 5x12 and
see how they will fit. Did you have to modify the openings on Magic
much to get the new ports to fit? Thanks for your input!

Any thoughts on having the opening ports on my CAL 40 refurbished,
rather than trying to find a size match?
Cheers
