Re: [Cal_Boats] Bimini
Erin,
I concur completely with Thomas Downing. Canvas is a fabulous product,
in that you can have anything you can conceive of and pay for. Since
it's all custom. one way or the other, you need to work with a canvas
maker who understands what you want, and can either execute your plan,
or tell you why it can't be done and suggest alternatives. Ten years
ago I saw what I wanted on another boat, got the name of the supplier,
and contacted her. Nemesis now has a 10 piece cockpit enclosure that
can go from nothing to completely installed in about 30 minutes. Today
is unusually hot on Puget Sound, so I may elect to put up the dodger
top and cockpit cover and sail in the shade. Or I may just sunscreen up
and glory in the weather. It's nice to have the choice. My set-up was
expensive, but it has been everything I wanted it to be, and has earned
compliments from many who have seen it.
