Lost flashlight
Randy Alcorn2007-07-31 03:02 UTC
I remember this coming up before but, now I gotta know.
My 11 yr old son had a tooth come out this weekend, while he was playing with it, it fell into the hand hold on the battery cover and dropped down into the hole in the keel. I never knew it existed.
So I stuck my handy pump in the hole thinking I could pump it out. The 48 in pump went to the top of the whole and I pumped put the most foul smelling bilge water I have ever dealt with. I filled a five gallon bucket and there is more.
When I looked into the whole with my flashlight, I dropped it. It disapeared. Still turned on.
How big is it? How come when I pump out my bilge in the cabin it does not connect to this one?
I was amazed! I thought I found everything on this boat.

Randy, this bilge?is the full depth of the aft end of the keel.? On my boat it does connect to the center bilge, in fact,?does ?drain down into my aft bilge. I pump out most of my bilge water from the aft bilge. And yes it does smell pretty bad!

Randy,
Worthy of note: Both my first Matie and I are out patients at the VA Hospital in Los Angles. Today I took me hang gliding instructor out for his first sail ever. Whee. Now we had three out patients aboard.
I had Larry take the tiller and he learned to drive the boat on the way back from Santa Monica Buoy, to the approach to the North Entrance of the Marina del Rey...whereupon we ran into light and shifty winds and severe chop, which disoriented him. I took the tiller and we were able to finish overtaking a well sailed and appointed Columbia Mk II 26 we'd been trailing thru the race, at the finish line. Way to go!
Jerry
I might cloudy and shivery (summertime?), but a nice orange ball sunset as the Sun popped thru the clouds just before dipping below the horizon.
