Hi David, I wish I could take the time off. Have a good one. Hey, I missed all you guys during the SB-KH race. Anacapa Yacht Club is doing a race to Santa Barbara over the Labor Day weekend. It's called the Tequilla Derby. Are you guys going to be around? Randy CAL 2-29 Out Patient Channel Islands Harbor Ca David Wilkie Owen <dw… [at] cox.net> wrote: Just a heads up... Re: [Cal_Boats] Outlaw Regatta Labor Day Weekend!

Coming up is the annual Outlaw Regatta Labor day weekend. We do the race from MdR to Seal Beach YC/Los Alamitos, then stop over in Catalina on the way back. Go on the SMWYC website for details. It includes a feast at Seal Beach YC and Dancing until midnite with a great DJ. Weekend before that is a Cancer Fund race out of Del Rey YC with a staggered handicap start. Go to DRYC website for details. There are several cheap sailing associations you can join that allow you to do all the YC racing you want, anywhere you want to. Ask and Tell your friends. Cruiser class racing is soooo much fun!!! Jerry Randy Alcorn <sa… [at] yahoo.com> wrote: Hi David, I wish I could take the time off. Have a good one. Hey, I missed all you guys during the SB-KH race. Randy & other Ventura sailors, I missed this email -- sorry about the delay. The SB-KH race seemed under represented in some categories this year. I could have hitched a ride on a big boat, but was recovering from some minor surgery. I HATE to miss anything called a "tequila derby" but I fear I will be in San Francisco over the Labor Day Weekend and will miss you guys. I hope all of you are excited about the CCCCC trip in early October and making plans to attend. It should be a riot of fun and a nice long cruise. I can see why he wouldn't want one of those things, if you fall off the boat, the PFD will slow your swim to the next Island, if a great white swallows you, the PFD would give him indigestion. And you look funny while wearing one! Jerry Michael D <md… [at] yahoo.com> wrote: FYI, A friend of mine just listed an Auto-Inflate PFD on ebay... Great Whites are rare in the warm waters of south FL, but bull sharks aren't.... As for islands, between the coast of south Florida and the Bahamas there aren't any. Besides, 75+ miles is a long swim with or without a PFD. Joking aside, most everyone wears one in this region during crossings, as the Gulfstream can get nasty. With a built in harness, it's a good thing to be tethered to the boat; especially at night. The shipping lanes are busy, and you would not believe just how "stealthy" container ships can be. I know they are supposed to be running with navigation lights, but I'll be damned if I can see any on at least half of the ones we come across, and those puppies haul ass.
