Cal 25' Pop-Top Wanted

Anyone selling the pop-top for a 1970's vintage Cal 25'? I bought one of these great boats recently, but the pop-top is in pretty bad shape (fiberglass at the hinges broken, deep cracks, etc...) and I'm trying to determine if buying a replacement is a better option than attempting repairs. thanks, Sam

This guy claims to have a bunch of CAL parts if his ad is still active. I would suggest taking your original hatch to a good repair shop. They are basically ALL at the point where they need attention of some sort. http://amcairns.net/cal25.html -George To: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.comFrom: sa… [at] gmail.comDate: Tue, 13 Nov 2007 00:47:18 +0000Subject: [Cal_Boats] Cal 25' Pop-Top Wanted Anyone selling the pop-top for a 1970's vintage Cal 25'? Sam, I consider the pop top slider hatch parts on the 25 to be some of the more valuable items on the boat. Don't have time at the moment to give the full rundown, but I've done a few rebuilds. Making from scratch would be quite a complex undertaking. Some grinding and bi-ax can fix the broken sections at the hinges. You can epoxy fill the cracks. (Remember that the liquid epoxy is not UV resistant - maybe with a special hardener.) Another interesting aspect is the plastic slider track hidden under the sliders. Most have broken. I found a way to make stainless 3/4" C-track work since we could find nothing like the old plastic c-track. Lots of filling, alignment, and fairing. All in good fun.
