I believe that it was Lear Siegler Marine in Falls River, Mass...
That's where my 86 was built.

I can assure you that no CAL was ever built in Falls River, MD. There ain't none. And I believe the New Jersey Jensen CAL factory closed down by then. Might it have been some place in Connecticut? I forget who made the later CALs.
Cheers

Bob,
Beautiful boat you have!
I'm trying to get mine back in shape after the PO left it unloved for a while
here is what you show:
CAB = Cal Boats
F = ? does not say in my brakedown. only H=MKII. mine is "F" also
0059 = hull number
M=modle year format
79 = built in 1979
J = May. This is the month of mfg. They started in August so A = August B=Sept etc
I can fax the brakedown to you if you like
My Cal 31 is hull #75 buit in '79 but all my paper work, title etc says it is a 1980

Hummm, it just dawned on me that my Cal31 is hull #75 built in 79 and your's is #59 also in '79.
Rough est of two boats a month minimum for the 31s? add in all the others being built and that's a lot of work!
Wait a minute!
My month of mfg is July!
So they laid 24 hulls in two months?
Somebody help me here with the cure time and how many forms would they need to do this.
I know useless info but I gotta know
KO

My HIN is CABF0094M80B, which should have been Cal 31 #94, manufactured in
Sept. of 1980. I don't know how it relates to Cals, but there were two
numbering systems in use between Oct. 31, 1972, and August 1, 1984. The
differences concern the last 4 number in the VIN. Another system is used
for hull nos. after August 1, 1984.

BANGOR PUNTA bought JENSEN MARINE in 1965, so all CALs built from 1965 to
1985-6 were built by a Bangor Punta owned company, LEAR SIEGLER bought
CAL/O'DAY in around 1985-6 and owned the company until about 1988 or so
when a group of investors bought the company only to go bankrupt in 1989.
Lear Siegler also bought the Starcraft boats division of Bangor Punta,
and the CAL/O'DAY part was actually called "Starcraft Sailboats" Division
of Lear Siegler for a while.
