Barient Winches
pw… [at] aol.com2008-01-08 15:01 UTC
The Cal 39 I just purchased (arrives on Thursday) will need all of its winches serviced and one may need to be rebuilt.? Are there still rebuild kits for Barient winches available if needed?
Are there any online directions on how to dis-assemble and re-assemble them or will the exploded view suffice?? Are there any suprises I should be aware of such as springs that shoot into space when the drum is removed?
Thanks -
Paul West

Hi, Paul. Try these:
http://maximalt.dk/Manualer/Andet/barlow-barient%20winch.pdf
http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/display.tpl?folder=Rich73086573207&
fno=17
Not complete, but might help. There are some parts around, but you need
to fish for the ones that fit (like the pawls and springs).
Hope This Helps
Charlie

Thanks, David. That's the one I was looking for. And Dan comes up with
a parts source. Quite an operation we have here.
Cheers

You help out with the beer, I'd love to help out with the labor.
Maintaining winches is one of those perfect activities for
consuming MGD and commenting on no-sailors motoring
by without guilt.
"Hey, I'm rebuilding my winch, okay?"
