Augmenting charging system

OK, I'm trying to fix my sad little Fischer Panda (long story...) and would like to get into solar panels and wind generator. We are never at a dock, so self-sufficiency is a necessity. We have a 400 amp bank of golf-cart batteries. Any recommendations for either solar or wind? The trade winds rarely let up in Fajardo PR, so a wind genarator would be great, except for the noise and potential danger from blades. I've had KISS recommended as relatively quiet and efficient... Solar panel is passive and "safe", but more limited in what can be generated, unless multiple panels are used$$$. I would consider a Honda 2000 gas generator, but hope to get the little diesel going again. Thanks, Peter "Bribon" Cal 39-II

I liked the KISS unit when I looked at it. The Ampair 100 is also very quiet. The LVM generators seem to be fairly quiet, and are usually well recomended. In fact, the KISS people recommend LVM if you are going places where parts and shipping are sketchier. Before buying, investigate the windspeed to power curve, as they vary dramatically from maker to maker, and model to model from the same maker. So I guess it's a question of priorities. If quiet is no. 1, then KISS or the Ampair 100 seem the way to go, from what I've discovered. td From: Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com [mailto:Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com]On Behalf Of C.
