Hi, Reg. To answer a few questions you asked as best I can (I was out of town - in San Diego - with not a lot of connectivity opportunities): I think we can get you a Chesapeake Bay slip in the $250/mo. range. I typically am fishing for slips in the 25 foot range for CAL 25 buddies. So a big noble CC 36 is a larger undertaking. I keep my CAL 40 at a community private dock. Not allowed to have non-resident boats, but might be able to pull off a very short term stay till you got sorted. Just north of Annapolis on the Naval Academy side of the Severn River. Also have a CAL 25 buddy in Deale, and one in Solomons who might be able to assist. Darr's advice from Sailnet list has merit to say the least. We are going to have 30-35 NW with gusts to 50 today. Happens once every week or two in the winter - maybe not always as strong as this one. Hope they cancel the Frostbite races today before we get out there. Not that I do not want you to come to Annapolis, but you should make an informed decision. Winter cold or summer hurricanes (we only get a few hurricanes here - last real one 3 years ago). From some experiences, here is what I know: If you decide to come this way, ICW is very chancy in some of the middle areas due to lack of dredging, not to mention that the heavy NWs tend to drain out water. You would need to get current local knowledge along the way. Not many boats now. Snow birds have roosted. I've only done the trip one way or the other in Spring and Fall. My guess at an itinerary would be ICW through Florida. Then hug the coast to Charleston with a good chart of places to pull in and good weather reports. I've spent many days sitting at Ashley Marina waiting out weather. Charleston is a neat place. www.charlestonwetslip.com 33 Lockwood Dr Charleston, SC 29401 (843) 853-6610
