I'm near Norfolk, VA, at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay.
How do I find out what my hull number is?

Anne,
Hang your head over the transom on the starboard side and look about 10-12"
(a guess, I don't remember exactly) down. You should see a slight recess
with your hull number molded into it. It hopefully matches the number on
you title, unless you have a documented boat.
