Anne, Welcome to the greatest list ever. Also because you have a 29. Your observation about the transition from crew to captain is right on. You are now in charge and responsible for the welfare of your crew and boat. That's a big thing. If you cruise or race it has to be your primary objective. She's in pretty good shape, considering she's 32 years old. I'm trying to get repairs taken care of that I don't feel adequate to do, or do have time to do before I take her out. That includes replacing the wiring and plumbing (house grade, not boat grade), replacing the steering pedestal back plate, and fixing a small soft spot in the deck. I've raced on other's boats for 5 years now, so I'm not a total 'greenhorn'. But I am finding it quite a different experience being in charge! I'm taking it slow though. While she's in for repairs, I've taken the USCGA boat safety course, and I've signed up for a Keelboarding course. I also have many more experience friends willing to share their weekend with me for some 'lessons'. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
