Re: [Cal_Boats] Jerry, Inexpensive racing
Jerry,
We have a US Sailing accredited group that offers racing, distance and bouy, for the season in Chicago. It's called MORF, Midwest Open Racing Fleet. It costs $35.00 a season, and you can race till you're sick of racing. It's sailor organized, run and scored. It's members are eligible to enter the other yacht club races, including the Chicago Mackinac that are US Sailing sanctioned. Those cost extra, but you can race a whole season for 35 bucks if all you want to race is MORF. I think they have a couple hundred members, comprised of one-design and PHRF sections.

David Dobbs

Hi Gals and Guys,
Check this out! Our VMF (Venture-MacGregor Fleet) group which meets in the same room as WSA but on 3rd Thursday evenings of the month, is holding a series parallel to the California Yacht Club's Wednesday night series, with the following differences: 1. Only one start at 6PM, 2.thirty races, starting April 1, entire series is $30.00, = that's only $1 per race! 3. six series of five races each, each series with a different course. 3. Especially dedicated to cruisers but serious racers competing at the PHRF level are welcome. (last year we had a J-109 and a Moore 24 participating) . 4. All entrants aggressively handicapped to give everyone a chance to go home with a beautiful trophy. 5. Trophies awarded at a catered holiday party at SMWYC in early December which includes hilarious gift giving and taking competition.
Membership in VMF dues only $20 per year.

The Tuesday Night Trials (TNT) Races will start on April 1 2008 and continue each Tuesday un till October 21 for a Total of 30 Races.
The Races will start at 6:00 P.M. and finish at 8:00 P.M.
We will utilize a new handicapping system that will generate handicaps so each entrant will have an equal chance to win each race. the adjustments will be in some cases radical. we will try this system and evaluate it as we go along.
Come to the next club meetings and we will explain the system and collect your race fees.
