Hey Dan, There's a great guy (Joe DeMers of Sound Marine) on this list. He will give you straight and honest advise. My only complaint is that he doesn't have a twin here in Puget Sound. :) We have a farrymann on it's 2nd rebuild and I really want to repower. When that time comes, we're going with Joe. Joe doesn't know this yet, but I want to buy him a plane ticket out here to help me with this project. What's holding us back is the time commitment and having to tear out our galley cabinets to get to our darn engine. We have the Cruiser's addition of the Cal 29 which makes getting to the engine tough. Anyway, Joe will steer you right. Gregg & Dannae 1978 Cal 3-29 #1008 In a message dated 3/16/2008 7:56:06 A.M. It looks to me that the galley will need dissasembly to make room for removal of the engine. Any insights and war stories are appreciated. I will have to second this statement. We re-powered out 29 with a Beta Marine engine from Joe and he was great to work with. The project was far less painful than I expected. It was a project well worth doing. We really, really like our Beta marine engine! Maintenance on it is incredibly easy. Joe was a great resource for this project. I also wish he was here in the Puget Sound region. When we replaced our farymann on our 2-29, it was a straight drop in replacement. I know people say it is, but it really was.
